LYNRED offers infrared detectors designed to meet the needs of a broad range of markets. Its infrared detector lineup covers the entire infrared spectrum, from SWIR to VLWIR. Its products are compatible with the demands of a variety of industries. They are reliable and robust enough for defense applications, compact and powerful enough for surveillance and leisure applications, and stable and sensitive enough for industrial applications including thermography, industrial systems, and fire and rescue applications.

LYNRED USA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of LYNRED that functions as a U.S. entity to serve customers across North America. They sell and support LYNRED’s detector products as well as some additional infrared and nightvision products developed by LYNRED USA specifically for the U.S. market. LYNRED USA’s headquarters is in Fairfield, New Jersey, and houses a small team comprised of engineering, operations, and sales personnel. This position reports to the Lynred USA regional sales manager.

Overview
The Key Account Manager is responsible for sales of LYNRED & LYNRED USA’s product portfolio in North America. They are responsible to execute on direct sales bookings and revenue for the complete cooled, uncooled, and modules product lines. They are responsible to manage, forecast, develop, and support business with assigned accounts and also to develop new business at accounts in their target markets. When called upon, assists the company in strategic planning, corporate steering, marketing, market development, and product development.
 
Key Responsibilities
A list of primary tasks and areas that are required to be performed either personally or through subordinates.
 

Sales and Business Development

  • Understand customer organization, decision making process and camera development programs.
  • Listen to, understand, and meet customers’ needs (technical, commercial, quality, TTM).
  • Get design-ins and design-wins at key, strategic, and opportunistic customers with support from customer technical support.
  • Meet revenue and booking expectations for their assigned and targeted customers. For cooled, uncooled, and night vision products, act as the primary direct contact for named and targeted customers.
  • Travel to prospect and conduct well prepared sale demonstrations.
  • Attend tradeshows and conferences.
  • Timely reporting of territory sales, quote activity, demos, active prospects for the territory. Their activity will be shared regularly with the sales, technical support, and leadership team for feedback and coordination Provide training and guidance to the inside sales staff and other KAMs.
  • Timely updating of relevant prospect and customer information into CRM system.

Support

  • When necessary, support the transfer of information to customers and prospects (within the guideline of export controls).
  • Support company’s strategic planning events, corporate planning and steering committee meetings.
  • Propose and provide input into new product definitions, solicit customer feedback on proposed new products.
  • Support marketing efforts to define target markets and assist in production of marketing materials.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Extensive sales and business development experience with high tech imaging-based systems and or modules/components. Infrared, thermal, EO/IR, and nightvision experience preferred.
  • Extensive prior experience in working with defense contractors, government agencies and commercial OEM organizations.
  • Able to develop strategic business relationships with key decision makers, interface with internal company departments and external partners to develop and implement strategies, plans, and business models.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in making commercial presentations and coordinating the development of technical proposals development initiatives to prospective government customers.
  • Ability to create and implement capture plans and work with management to allocate resources. Able to participate with upper management in all negotiations, contract development, due diligence and other business or alliance development activities.
  • Strong customer relationship experience.
  • BS degree in engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5-7 years of business/sales development experience.
  • Ability to travel 30% to 50% of time (a minimum) on a consistent basis, with a slightly higher percentage while establishing initial relationships.
  • Solid technical aptitude – ability to understand technical issues at stake.
  • Strong demonstrated leadership skills, responsiveness & autonomy.

WHAT DOES THE POSITION INVOLVE?

As part of the reinforcement of LYNRED USA teams, the company is recruiting a field application engineer (FAE) specialized in infrared imaging detectors.  As a field application engineer, you are the link between development, customers and sales.  In close collaboration with the sales and marketing teams, the FAE will be responsible for supporting the customer and ensuring that technical solutions are successfully implemented and meet customer requirements.  The successful candidate will have to provide technical support for our catalogue of products to customers and local sales teams, as well as analyze the customers requests in terms of need and promote the most suitable technical solution.   This requires in-depth technical knowledge of the products, as well as knowledge of the details from our product development teams from testing down to the sales strategy. As you will have direct contact with customers, you must have excellent communication skills.  A good autonomy and organisation level is required.

 

Support

  • Execute pre- and post-sale technical support activities.
  • Assist in defining product technical requirements.
  • Assess viability versus competing products.
  • Extract the main products features and link it to the application (market and sub-market).
  • Support sales team in addressing the technical needs of the customers.  This objective includes business trips with sales managers.
  • Assist the development team for product requirement definitions and specifications.
  • Receive complaints/issues from customers and build/raise support tickets according to LYNRED standards.
  • Analyze data related to product or system errors.
  • Developing technical solutions for our customers.
  • Generate relevant reports and present to the customer.
  • Provide relevant product training to the customer.
  • Establishing and maintaining customer relations.
  • Support sales colleagues and company business objectives.

 

REQUIRED PROFILE

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Engineer in scicence or physics, specialized in electronics and preferably having knowledge in electro-optics.
  • > 5 years experience in field application engineering, engineer in the field of electro-optic components would be a plus.
  • Autonomous, naturally open, ability to listen to customers and integrate into a dynamic team.
  • Comfortable with product presentations.
  • Fluency in French language is a plus.
  • Must be able to travel 50-75% of the time, primarily in the USA, with occasional travel to France.
